Counterfeit Viagra and Cialis Seized by Customs in Buenos Aires

Jan 14th, 2010 | By | Category: Impotence News

Over 400,000 erectile dysfunction pills were seized in Buenos Aires airport by customs officials, with a total market value of $235,000.  The container, opened by customs, discovered 10 boxes containing pills labeled “Viagra” and “Cialis”.

Pfizer indicated the pills were similar to Viagra, but were fake.

Viagra is high in demand, and it’s expensive.  The Erectile Dysfunction drug market is now over 3.7 billion, giving it massive worldwide market potential.  This makes it valuable for counterfeiters to produce a generic pill shaped and branded like the real deal; even the packaging is duplicated.

Clearly, counterfeit pills are dangerous since they are not regulated or inspected.  The container the pills were shipped in was labeled to be imported from China and was declared to contain lamps.

This find brings up a disturbing thought:  Just how many of the pills on the market, in the U.S. and beyond, are real? And how many are fakes?
